Our story and our missions
Presentation of the chamber
Founded in 1998 at the instigation of 8 French entrepreneurs, the Franco-Cambodian Business Club is in the first instance a place for meetings and exchanges, an opportunity to share resources and experiences. The enthusiasm and dynamism of the Club quickly spread to the entire French-speaking business community. In November 2000, with already 50 members after only two years of activity, the Club changes its name to “the Franco-Cambodian Chamber of Commerce”. It is by becoming a bi-national structure five years later that it took the name of the France Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Our members (companies, NGOs, and other international organisations) reflect Cambodia's entire social and economic landscape in multiple sectors of activity such as the hotel industry, computer science, automobile industry, and the medical sector. Thus, the France Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Industry has quickly committed itself to employment with the "Annual Career Forum" whose objectives are to bring together companies, recruiters, and job seekers until the local economic environment meets the needs of employers (2013-2014).
Since 2002, the The France Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Industry has been part of the Union of French Chambers of Commerce and Industry Abroad (CCI France International). This worldwide network, composed of 119 Chambers in 94 countries, represents more than 35,000 member companies (50% of which are foreigners) and is the leading private network of French companies worldwide.
In 2011, the France Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Industry chose to co-found, with its German and British peers, the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia, also known as EuroCham, and to reformulate its governance principles in order to pool and coordinate resources and actions within EuroCham, notably in the field of business support services. The France Cambodia Chamber of Commerce and Industry is also active in the EuroCham committees to help connect the private sector with the Government and thus encourage business development in Cambodia.
